About Karah Lain
Karah Lain has held collage as a grounding practice in her work since childhood. Her collages speak to the slippery, mixed metaphor of material associations, and the dynamic of internal balance and chaos. She engages a wide range of materials to speak a language of painting and formalism, while also referencing everyday life. These in-between spaces of not knowing are most motivating to Karah. She is inspired by modern formal painters and the New Casualists of the current era, as well as critical thinkers ranging from Maggie Nelson to Hannah Arendt. Karah holds her BS in Art degree from Olivet Nazarene University and is currently an MFA candidate at Oregon College of Art and Craft.
